Hands,
The October field day saw us crew the ship with Massachusetts Maritime
Academy students, Navy veterans, and our large contingent of civilian
enthusiasts. We had 11 destroyer veterans aboard joined by our
large youth movement.
The team accomplished a lot of projects and upkeep on our veteran
destroyer with both fresh paint and continued preservation efforts of
never restored areas internally; including preservation of spaces and
equipment on the third platform. We cannot thank the following
people enough for their dedication and support:

4. Place inflatable life jackets in MT52
handling room to replicate cruise book photos.
5. Painted all bulkheads in SONAR Motor
Generator Room white.
6. Major prep, rust converter, and prime
effort of machinery, machinery foundations, deck, and lower bulkheads
of Refer deck Machinery Space.
7. Complete prep and prime of SONAR Motor
Generator room under Mess Decks.
8. Manned the paint locker and organized
supplies for the field day
9. Cooked meals for a hungry crew
10. Stowed searchlights for winter
11. Provide tours to visitors.
12. Placement of USS Newman K. Perry DD883 Dummy load cables in
Radar Transmitter room for display.
13. Rope work on w/t door handles by the radio room, the sign in
the transmitter room, in engine room, wrapping mooring lines, and
giving out monkey fist key chains to volunteers.
